Instant Legal Help

The CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATlON OF REALTORS has added a new member service as part of its highly popular member Legal Hotline. Called the Automated Legal Information System (ALIS), this service provides FREE recorded messages, prepared by C.A.R.'s Hotline attorneys, on more than 200 real estate-related topics, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The topics listed below will provide you with answers to some of the most frequently asked legal questions.

To access C.A.R.'s Automated Legal Information System (ALIS), simply call (213) 739-8205 from a touch-tone phone and listen to the introductory message. Once you have entered the ALIS system, you can press ** plus the four-digit number from the ALIS list of topics to enter the "Legal Box" of your choice. Also, listen for the prompts to access information about other C.A.R. services.

If ALIS does not cover your particular question, the FREE C.A.R. Legal Hotline continues to be available to members by dialing (213) 739-8282. If you are a broker/owner, office manager or RMI subscriber, you may call (213) 739-8350. This service is available between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
